About the Gasimli Lab
Dr. Gasimli’s research project focuses on new therapeutic approaches for the treatment of endometrial cancer and metastatic endometrial cancer, which continue to have a poor prognosis in terms of survival rates. The main objective of the studies is to investigate targetable kinases as Polo-like Kinase 1, KRAS, PI3K as well as G-quadruplex stabilization as new therapeutic options. Using cell culture models, patient-derived organoid cultures, and xenograft mouse models they elucidate molecular pathways to better understand the mechanisms behind cell death induction in endometrial cancer. Based on the molecular findings, the group sets up investor-initiated trials to transfer the results of their research into clinical practice for suitable patient subgroups in last-line treatment.
