Research Focus

Clinician Scientist Dr. Tobias Bexte investigates new strategies to enhance the natural functionality of immune cells and to harness their therapeutic potential for incurable diseases.
His work focuses on cutting-edge gene editing approaches, including innovative CAR technologies as well as advanced CRISPR-based editing and -screening methods, which allow him to precisely and safely boost the effectiveness against e.g. cancer of immune cells such as primary NK cells. His research lays the foundation for a new generation of tailored and safe allogeneic „off-the-shelf“ immunotherapies that open up novel treatment perspectives for patients with hematological malignancies as well as other hard-to-treat diseases.
