To investigate the complexities of solid tumors and the mechanisms of therapy resistance, Dr. Mélanie Tichet and her research group utilize genetically engineered mouse models (GEMMs) that closely recapitulate human cancers. The research focuses on cellular and molecular interactions within the tumor microenvironment (TME), particularly the role of tumor-associated macrophages in driving immunosuppression and therapeutic resistance. By functionally dissecting the heterogeneity and dynamics of macrophage subpopulations, the team aims to uncover additional immune barriers and develop strategies to improve treatment responses.
