About the Cheng Lab
The research group focuses on expanding the vulnerable and therapeutically accessible proteome. Two main approaches are pursued: (a) cell-based high-throughput screening to discover novel chemical compounds as drug candidates and (b) repurposing of drugs using modern biotechnological methods to identify new targets for existing drugs. The methods used in the laboratory range from classical chemical synthesis to modern molecular biology, including organic synthesis, PROTAC technology, proteomics, various in vitro/cell-based assays, RNA sequencing, and genetic manipulation.
